REQUEST FOR PRAYERS

Our prayers are being requested for the following members, or their family members.

Let us never forget all those souls lost on September 11, 2001 in NY, PA and Washington, especially our fallen NYPD brothers who gave their lives so selflessly.

Let us keep all those men and women serving in our armed forces around the world in our thoughts and prayers, especially those assigned to ESU who have been called to active duty.

Deceased

Prayers are requested for all those recently departed.

May they rest in peace.

NYPD Retired Sergeant Peter F. Kobel, father of REMA member John Kobel, Ret Det ESS 10, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2010. Pete was eighty years old and had spent the equivalent of two full careers in the NYPD because he retired with forty years on the job. Read his obituary from NEWSDAY at: Peter Kobel's Obituary

Please remember him and John's entire family in your prayers. May he join those who have gone on to their heavenly reward and rest in peace. (posted January 29, 2010)

REMA member Paul Kirschbaum (Ret. - ESS 6 & EMS) on Friday, January 15, 2010, after a long and difficult illness. He was eighty five years old and had retire in 1985. Paul is survived by his loving wife Gloria, and two of his three children. He proudly served in the US Navy and was a long time member of the NYPD Shomrim Society. Please remember Paul's entire family in your prayers. May he will enjoy eternal peace.

REMA member Larry Savage (Ret. Lt. ESU) on Sunday, December 13, 2009. He finally succumbed to Mesothelioma after being diagnosed last spring. Larry spent his career in Emergency as a Patrolman, Sergeant and Lieutenant. He was the consummate E-man always getting the job done regardless of the situation. When Larry was there, everything was under control. His quiet confidence and quick wit were just two facets of his lay back style. Larry was a team player who led by example. He could always be counted on to make decisions, but was not adverse to taking into consideration someone else's suggestion. He was a mentor who was always accessible to the younger E-men. But the thing I will remember most is that Larry was my friend. He was one of the first members of REMA and helped shape the makeup of our group. I could always depend on him for help or advice if I asked for either. I will miss Larry Savage. Please remember Larry's entire family in your prayers. May he rest in peace and enjoy his place in heaven with his dear wife Peg. (posted December 14, 2009)

Teresa Vales, sister of REMA member Steve Vales (Ret ESS 2) on Sunday, November 22, 2009. She succumbed to the effects of a brain aneurism that came on suddenly in late October. She was forty two and led a happy and active life. Please pray for Steve and his entire family as they cope with this sudden and tragic loss. Teresa will be dearly missed. May she enjoy eternal peace in her new heavenly home with our Lord. (posted November 25, 2009)
